How reliable is FedEx tracking?

FedEx tracking is usually pretty reliable. The most common reasons for a package not to show up on your FedEx tracking, however, are:

- The package was unable to be delivered because you were not home

- A mistake in the destination address information of the shipment caused it to go to an incorrect location

- There was a delivery problem at the destination location and the recipient is not available at this time

- A business or residential customer refused or failed to pay duties, taxes, or other charges required by law.

FedEx tracking will give you information about a package's delivery status, but the information is not always accurate in every case. There are specific reasons that packages are returned to their origin (the sender).

If your package has been returned to sender, you need to contact the person who sent the package and ask them to resend it.

- Incorrect Destination Information: If a package was delivered because of an incorrect address, any attempt at finding it would be useless.

The shipment would have to be returned. If you receive a status notice stating your shipment was returned for incorrect address information, please check your address and update it if necessary.

- Delayed Delivery: Delayed delivery can be an unfortunate but understandable occurrence. If a package is marked delivered and placed in your tracking system, but the shipment has not been delivered, you may want to contact the person who sent the package and ask that he or she resend it.

- Accidental Destruction: Accidental destruction occurs when a package is lost or left behind by someone on delivery. In some cases, FedEx has taken steps to ensure that packages are destroyed so that they cannot be resold.
